Crafty Kids: How To Make Spooky Strawberry Ghosts!

Casper the Friendly Ghost isn't the only "sweet" ghost around this Halloween! These chocolate-covered strawberry ghosts are perfect treats for your little one, combining spooky and delicious for a fun, festive snack.

I had the pleasure of making these ghostly treats for a fun downtown event at my children's boutique, and the customers absolutely adored them, they were boo-licious! This super easy and adorable craft is perfect for your kids to help with, making it a great addition to Halloween parties, school events, or even for trick-or-treating.

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Strawberries
  • White Chocolate Chips or Melts (I got mine at Joann Fabrics)
  • Edible black pen or mini dark chocolate chips (for eyes/mouth)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Strawberries: Make sure to wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. If they're still damp, the chocolate won't stick properly.
  2. Melting the Chocolate: Follow the instructions on the package if you're using chocolate melts. If you're using white chocolate chips, melt them in a microwave-safe, deep bowl in 30-45 second intervals, stirring between each until fully melted. Add a bit of coconut oil for a smoother consistency.
  3. Dipping the Strawberries: Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate and let the excess drip off. You can use a skewer stick to help hold the strawberries. Before placing them on parchment paper, add a small dollop of melted chocolate in the shape of a "tail" on the paper, and then set the dipped strawberry on top of it to form the ghostly figure.
  4. Adding the Eyes and Mouth: Before the chocolate sets, use mini chocolate chips or melted dark chocolate to create the eyes and mouth. If you're using an edible black pen, wait until the strawberries have completely dried before adding the features.
  5. Setting the Ghosts: Place the finished ghosts in the fridge to harden. Remove them 30 minutes before serving for the best texture.

Tip: To keep them fresh, it's best to make these the night before or the day of your event. They'll stay good for 1-2 days when stored properly.

This simple, spooky and fun recipe is something you can return to each Halloween-and with a little creativity, you can even switch up the characters year after year!
